But wait, who is Froilan Canlas?
As far as I remember, Froilan Canlas joined the OPM@Pagcor in 2012. He sang the classic song “Dahil Sa’yo” and became the grand prize winner.
He was born as a musician. He became a member different bands at age 18. Raised as a music lover, his passion in music continues. He was then a music student at University of the Philippines, College of Music-Asian Music Graduate to be exact.
Do you know that Froilan can’t just sing? Yes, he is really born as an artist because he also have passion to write songs, play many musical instruments such as the kulintang, gangsa, rondalla, koto of Japan, erhu of China and gamelan of Indonesia.
Some of his musical influences are Regine Velasquez and Martin Nievera, Boyz II Men, George Michael and Usher. But according to him, one of his inspirational song influence would be Gaya Ng Dati by Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano.
He is very talented and down to earth person. Froilan Canlas draws his strength and inspiration from his family and to God. He joined a lot of singing competition not just because of passion but also for his family.
It seems that Froilan Canlas embraced positivism and good vibes not only in music but also in life and it radiates even to his life motto, as what he always reiterate in his Facebook account, “Whatever you do, do it for the glory of God.”
A total OPM performer can sing from the soul and affect whoever listens to him. And that is exactly Froilan Canlas.
“Just keep dreaming. Never stop. Always put God in your heart when you sing.”-Froilan Canlas said.
While writing this, he is competing for Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Quarter 4 Semi-Finals as the semi finalist contestant.
